AJ Bell ‘On the Road’

AJ Bell ‘On the Road’ is a biannual roadshow for advisers and paraplanners, bringing expert speakers to cities across the UK and covering topics like investment markets, regulation and technical issues.

AJ Bell Investcentre is back ‘On the Road’, with a Mad-Max-themed schedule. Come and join our gang and listen to Kevin Doran’s thoughts on the post-apocalyptic desert of fund picking and whether the new breed of Model Portfolio Services should be your new weapon of choice.

Mark Polson will join us as guest speaker with his session ‘Road Warriors’, which will look at what we could be doing to survive this world of regulatory fire and blood. He has some fresh data to share from his new report ‘State of the Adviser Nation’ and provides insight on how firms can work through their PROD responsibilities.

To finish the bill, Lisa Webster will deliver a fast and furious technical hit with all of the latest goings-on from both the regulators and Government views and proposals, and how these will impact pensions.

AJ Bell’s gang will be riding into a city near you, so select your preferred venue on the drop down menu below and register today.

You can also download each session's agenda to see exactly what’s in store across an information-packed two hour session.

Regional Business Development Manager – AJ Bell Investcentre

Platform update

Your regional Business Development Manager will set the scene for the day with a short business update, before highlighting our recent platform developments that have been delivered to help you guide your clients through this mad world.

9.15am

Kevin Doran, Chief Investment Officer – AJ Bell Investments

What’s your weapon of choice?

Kevin Doran will challenge whether the march of outsourced solutions could eventually make the old landscape of fund picking and in-house model portfolios look like a post-apocalyptic desert. Is the new breed of Model Portfolio Services your weapon of choice, or is a customised, one-off creation of your own choosing still more desirable?

9.50am

Mark Polson, Founder – the lang cat

Road Warriors

“Out here, everything hurts. Our world is regulatory fire and blood. And so our sector is reduced to a single instinct: survive.”

And yet no sector is so adept at survival as financial planning. In this session, Mark Polson will – in between dropping Mad Max references – look at how the sector is coping with a level of regulatory intervention on all fronts that we haven’t seen since RDR. He’ll share some new data from the lang cat’s ‘State of The Adviser Nation’, look at how firms are working through their PROD responsibilities and cast an eye over AJ Bell’s new Retirement Investment Account. .

10.25am

Lisa Webster, Senior Technical Consultant – AJ Bell

Merit or madness – test-driving the Government’s latest policies

Lisa will have a look at the latest Government’s view of pensions and what its proposals mean. How will it tackle issues such as the tapered annual allowance, the net pay anomaly and the taxation of flexible payments – if at all? Will new tax rates and reliefs impacting pensions across the UK prove roadworthy or should the Government be hitting the breaks? Lisa will also give an update on the latest goings-on from the regulators and how this all fits together for advisers and their clients. It’s a fast and furious session, so sit tight for our usual ‘On the Road’ technical hit!
