Welcome, introduction and platform market/business update

Amanda Sillars, Fund Management Director – Jupiter Independent Funds team

Markets update and outlook for 2019

Investors have enjoyed an unusually strong decade in financial markets. What is the economic and market outlook henceforth, and how is Jupiter Merlin poised to navigate within this on behalf of its clients?

Laura Suter, Personal Finance Analyst – AJ Bell

Are women the untapped investment market?

With fewer women investing than men, Laura Suter will dig into the reasons behind this and outline why the financial adviser community has subsequently become male-client focused. Addressing increasing wealth, the pension gender gap and how important it is for women to have a financial plan, Laura will also discuss what extra efforts financial firms and advisers have been making to target this market and who has been successful.

Tracy Watkinson, Managing Director - Credit Suisse

What is your action plan to tackle gender diversity?

Moving the conversation on from the business case for gender diversity to practical solutions leading to change.

Tracy will focus on tackling this issue like any other business problem; led by the Business, using data to understand the current state, agree targets and measure the success of actions. With an emphasis on implementing process changes to mitigate for potential bias and ensure a sustainable solution.

Bev Shah, Founder and CEO - CityHive

How to make best use of your EQ when assessing a fund manager

Having spent the majority of her City career researching funds and fund managers, Bev will impart what she learnt on her journey about the importance of factoring in your EQ alongside your IQ in all your analysis.

Coffee break

Lisa Webster, Senior Technical Consultant – AJ Bell

Cascading wealth

Lisa will take a look at tax-efficient ways of passing on wealth via pensions and ISAs. Using case studies she will investigate the planning options for those with lifetime allowance issues, how best to use the generous pension death benefit rules and how and when IHT may apply. She will also consider how to make the most of ISA additional permitted subscriptions.

Abbie Llewellyn-Waters, Fund Manager Environment & Sustainability – Jupiter Asset Management

Stock picking, ESG and diversity

Abbie will explore a new era of sustainable investing, delivering a deeper analysis of how ESG considerations can be used as an investment tool rather than a screen. She will also seek to understand the broader definition of 'stakeholder' for the incoming generation of savers; the future client base.

Cor Hutton, Founder - Finding Your Feet

Finding My Hands

Cor returns to AJ Bell Luminary to tell her story, and describe her experience of becoming the first quadruple amputee to climb Kilimanjaro, and the first Scot to receive a double hand transplant.
